The room was one of many left largely intact after the July 2007 fire, personal belongings still in place years after residents were displaced. Built in 1927 by the Gakuso Foundation to house Taiwanese students studying in Tokyo, the dormitory stood sealed in Kohinata, Bunkyo ku until its demolition in 2013.
