The 1909 Coinage Act authorised two copper and four silver coins. Australias first silver coinage was issued in 1910. The four coins were struck at the Royal Mint, London and comprised a threepence, sixpence, shilling (12 pence) and florin (two shillings). Each coin carried the obverse portrait of King Edward VII.
