The building opened as Asahi Elementary School in 1975 and closed just eight years later

built for Automatic Totalisators Limited around 1947

The plant closed permanently in August 1988

Spray cans and debris scatter across the wide open floor plate beneath a low flat ceiling, grimy industrial windows lining the far wall. This is what remained of the ABBCO Bakery in Leichhardt when it was photographed in 2015, years after production ceased in the facility once described as the biggest independent bakery in Australia.
