The outer is painted in a ‘panzer’ yellow with an olive-drab camo pattern applied

As has been suggested this version may have been designed as an early civilian sun helmet and was adopted for military use - and later was exported

When purchased the shell was in a rust affected condition

The heat stamp is very faint and hard to read; I can make out 95B (I could only just make out the 9 Mar 42). When acquired the shell was painted in perhaps a post war olive drab with some evidence of the original texture beneath; there was a piece of white cloth tape around the front and down the sides.
